I have to say this holiday to Bali was one to remember. Michael & I had the most amazing time of our lives. Time to our selves, time to relax and keep our spark alive. Late nights wandering the street of Bali and long sleep ins in the morning. All the time in the world to ourselves to do whatever we wanted, to eat everything & anything & to just focus on our love. Michael has never been to a country like Bali before so this was definitely an experience for him. We spent time exploring the city, surfing and drinking coconuts on the beach, scootering around and getting completely lost in the city, swimming for hours until sunset, riding elephants, snorkelling around islands, trying all sorts of Balinese foods and talking to strangers about life.
Little did I know that our holiday was about to get even better. On the second night after returning from a elephant safari ride we headed up to the rooftop of our hotel for dinner. There was no body up there. We ordered Balinese dinner and watched the most amazing sunset. As it set fairy lights appeared above. A man came out and started singing love songs. I thought wow this is so romantic, this hotel really sets the mood for lovers. We moved over to a nook for dessert, i order while Michael ‘went to the toilet’. He came back and seemed quite emotional. We watched fireworks in the distance and listened to the singer play a song called Marry Me. I was still clueless, but thought it was all so romantic. I remember Michael told me some things that now that i think about it was the most important thing to hear. He said sorry for the times in our relationship where things went wrong and that he loved me so much. As he teared up he said “so I have a little present for you”. He bought out a box and I burst into tears for about ten mins. He then said “sooooo is that a yes?!” Of course I said yes!!
I knew we would probably be together forever but I never imagined a moment like that and I never imagined being engaged to him would feel this way. After 4 years marriage didn’t became so important to me, I just thought our relationship would still be and feel the same married or not married. We knew we loved each other and that was that. But I was so wrong, being engaged & preparing for marriage means so much more. I have never felt so secure, nor felt so loved unconditionally. This is us putting in 100% forever. Knowing we will go through a lot but knowing its us as a team and we will get through.
What I know now which I never knew while I was young is that life is hard, marriage is hard, work is hard. But if you work hard and put time into these things you will get through.
There is one more thing i’ve learnt, I never thought I could love him anymore than I do. But boy do I love him more than ever after the day we got engaged!
So I would love to share with you all our images from our trip to Bali. A trip to remember forever. Our Bali Love…
